About SWEF

space

The Space Weather Enterprise Forum (SWEF) is a significant annual meeting that brings together stakeholders from across industry, academia, government, and Capitol Hill to raise awareness of emerging space weather hazards and their impacts on society. SWEF grants an opportunity to bring together the space weather community to present information to ultimately advance the broader use of space weather information on a routine basis while improving the nation's ability to avoid, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the negative impacts of space weather events.

Forum Objectives

  1. Discuss vulnerabilities of our technological infrastructure to space weather impacts
  2. Support actions to prepare for and respond to space weather impacts
  3. Highlight partnership opportunities between government, commercial, and academic stakeholders
  4. Emphasize the importance of new policy guidance pending space weather related legislation

SWEF History

Dating back to 2009, SWEF has fostered continued engagement across the Space Weather enterprise to plan for, warn for, and respond to space weather events in the near term (the upcoming solar maximum) and in the long term. Since the release of the first National Space Weather Strategy and Action Plan (2015), SWEF has also updated the community on federal progress towards implementing the National Strategy and related Action Plans.
