Webcast and Teleconference Information

Please don’t be intimidated by this technology, participation in this webcast is very simple. To participate fully you will need to initiate two separate components. One component is for the voice portion of the workshop, which is done through a standard telephone connected to a teleconference service. The other portion is for the computer presentations, which uses your computer’s browser to connect to the GoToMeeting site.

Teleconference Service
Using your telephone, please dial into the number listed below for the appropriate day and enter the participant pass code when prompted.

Date Phone Number Passcode
June 6 888-664-9852 63214
June 7 888-730-9138 49314
June 13 888-730-9138 49314
June 14 888-730-9138 49314
  • If you have the feature on your telephone, using mute when you are not talking helps reduce unnecessary noise on the line.
  • Please do not put the teleconference on hold to avoid rerouting of the call or introducing extraneous music into the teleconference.

Computer Presentations (GoToMeeting Service)

From 9:45 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. EDT, please start the online presentation portion (GoToMeeting) following the directions below. This will allow us to assist if you run into any difficulties.

1. Click on the https link to GoToMeeting list above.

  • The first time you use GoToMeeting it will need to load an ActiveX applet.
  • Depending on your version of Windows and your security settings, you may receive an Information Box prompt saying that “the site might require the following ActiveX control. Click here to install.” Please click on the bar and install the ActiveX control.
  • A security warning may appear – please click the Install button.
  • Once the software is installed a box will appear prompting you for your name and email.

2. Please enter your name and organization’s acronym and click OK.

  • Example – Frank (OFCM) or if you have multiple users together, please enter all the first names of the attendees at your site (e.g. Frank Ken Tony (OFCM)).
  • Entering your email address is not necessary.
  • It is up to you whether you want to have the system remember your name and email.
  • The two parts of GoToMeeting will appear, the presentation screen and to the right the GoToMeeting conference information window.
  • The GoToMeeting conference information window allows you to see the attendees, the chat log and to chat with other virtual conference attendees. You can hide and unhide this window by clicking on the arrows.

3. You are now a conference attendee, but please remember to dial-in for the voice content.

Additional Directions for Remote Presenters Only

Please email your presentation before the meeting to kenneth.barnett@noaa.gov for posting on the web and for use as a backup solution if GoToMeeting were to fail.

1. After establishing a connection to the teleconference and GoToMeeting conference, please open your presentation on your computer.

  • Have the presentation ready and waiting for your time to present.
  • Next OFCM will allow your computer to be the presenter. At this point, please close any confidential windows and respond to the “You’re the Presenter” dialog box.

2. On the “You’re the Presenter” dialog box, you must pick a presentation method. Choose from the three possible methods.

  • Screen – which is everything that appears on your screen will now show to all attendees.
  • Screen CLEAN – which hides your icons, background and taskbar from showing to the attendees.
  • Pick from an open application – which will only show that application to the attendees.

3. For Power Point, start the slide show (F5 or the Screen Icon) and advance through your presentation as normal.

  • Once you are done with your presentation, OFCM will retake control of the conference screen and the GoToMeeting Conference Screen will appear again.
