The space
environment around Earth is becoming of ever-increasing importance for
the successful operation of essential commercial, government, and national
security infrastructure of the nation. The United States National Space
Weather Program (NSWP) is a Federal interagency (seven agencies) initiative
with the overall objective to speed improvement of space weather services
in order to prepare the country to deal with technological vulnerabilities
that can occur due to the space environment. This assessment report
is a comprehensive review of the NSWP conducted by a committee of six
individuals with expertise encompassing the science and applications
aspects of space weather.
